Dear Blog Readers,
I am deeply guilty for leaving you in the dark about my CD project! Please accept my sincere apologies!
As you may know, this project failed to reach its fundraising goal on Kickstarter. I have learned an important lesson during the two-month course of this Kickstarter campaign: I am not born to fund-raise. The feelings of guilt, imposition, and plain rudeness infiltrated every aspect of the process. I despise asking for money. Some people are good at it; of course, that doesn't make them bad people. These people have an innate talent for getting others to fervently believe in what they believe in. I'm afraid I do not have that talent.
Since we're all expected to be good at everything today's world (and reasonably so, more or less), I will likewise set goals for myself to get better at this in time. I am excited to learn the ropes of fundraising! (But that does not mean I'll be going into institutional advancement any time soon.)
Anyway, here's the scoop: I'm still recording this album, with some changes. For various reasons, I'll be recording a recital-style disc with multiple composers represented instead of an all-Debussy disc. Of course, one of the composers represented will most certainly be Debussy. :-) In fact, I'm recording this week. Yes, this week!! It's definitely happening. My employer is expecting me to complete this disc; I'm not looking forward to putting several thousand dollars on my credit card, but I gotta do what I gotta do. Besides, I've had insane balances on credit cards during my more irresponsible years (i.e., pre-marriage), and life went on, la dee da, and eventually I paid it all off. At least this CD project will be a legit purchase!
To those of you who remain interested in investing in and supporting my project, please get in touch with me by email (drew@drewle.com). Together we can think of even better backer rewards than the ones I had when my Kickstarter was still alive and kicking! (No pun intended.)
But to everyone who followed my Kickstarter page and especially to those who pledged: Again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I may not be the world's most talented fund-raiser, but I can definitely assure you that my sentiment of thanks is supremely sincere.
With Love,
Drew
